Virtualization company releases Android 10 beta for iPhone 7 – Tablets and phones – News

Virtualization company Corellium has released a beta of an Android 10 firmware for the iPhone 7. Among other things, the CPU and multitouch work, but many other functions do not. Android for other iPhones must come out quickly.

Corellium calls it Sandcastle project, to the sandbox in which Apple runs many elements of iOS. Android does not replace iOS, but creates a partition on the storage for running Android. The beta contains no possibility to install apps.

The screen, the cpu and wifi work, but mobile internet, the gpu and other things are not working yet, says Corellium. Users must jailbreak their device with Checkra1n to install Android on their iPhone, writes Forbes. Installation is via a wired connection to Mac.

The iPhone will boot iOS by default, but users can put their phone in dfu mode and hang it on a Mac or Linux computer. You can then start Android from there. The removal of Android is done by logging in via ssh and removing the folder.

Android 10 also works on the most recent iPod touch and thanks to Checkra1n it will work in the future on the iPhone 5 up to and including iPhone X. The code of the project is on GitHub. Corellium is with Apple engaged in a legal battle due to the ability to virtualize iOS. It is not the first time that Android runs on an iPhone. Ten years ago one appeared Android version for the first iPhone.
