Virtual, the Hidalgo University Book Fair begins on August 27

The Hidalgo University Book Fair (FUL) 2021, from August 27 to September 5, will be for the second consecutive year in virtual format, however it maintains Austria as Guest Country of Honor, it will be governed by the theme Sustainable Futures and will offer a literary, cultural and artistic program with more than 334 activities, among which the 2021 Juan Crisóstomo Doria Award for the Humanities to the writer Elmer Mendoza stands out.

The meeting, which in this 34th edition will have more than 1,300 national and international publishers, will grant the University Recognition for the Development of the Publishing Industry for Ediciones Tecolote and the Recognition of the University Publishing Merit for UNAM, said the rector of the Universidad Autónoma del State of Hidalgo, Adolfo Pontigo Loyola, and the president of the FUL, Marco Antonio Alfaro.

“This Fair has 334 activities: we will have an editorial program, prominent guests and the most significant space that is FUL Niños, is the seedbed of readers,” said Alfaro, who reiterated the work that since last year they developed with the digital platform of the FUL that hosts all the activities of the program for the online broadcasts of the events and will host the participating publishers.

The program highlights the presentation of the book published by EL UNIVERSAL, Historia de la pluralidad en El Universal. The Construction of Democracy: The Opposition Candidates in the 1988 Elections, by Fausto Zapata, who will be presented by Ernesto Velázquez, Leonardo Curzio and José Woldenberg, on Monday, August 30, at 1:00 p.m.

Alfaro highlighted the participation of writers such as Mario Maldonado, Malva Flores, Cristina Rivera Garza, Bernardo Fernández, Bef, Laurie Ann Ximénez-Fyvie, Héctor de Mauleón, Elena Poniatowska, Pilar Quintana, Lorenzo Córdova, Rosa Beltrán, Antonio Ramos Revillas, Hernán Bravo Varela, Juan Gedovius, Angelina Muñiz-Huberman and Alejandro Soriano Valles, among others.
