The Algerian artist Mohamed-Cherif Sahli de Bordj Bou Arréridj climbed, under the critical eye of a very selective jury, to an honorable 14th place, for his painting entitled “The thirst” inspired by the surrealist school of Salvador Dali, at the virtual international exhibition “The international Exhibition America Seven Arts”.
Sur more than 900 participants from different countries (Algeria, USA, Egypt, Tunisia, Ivory Coast…), competing for the prize of the Virtual International Exhibition (The international Exhibition “America Seven Arts”, which took place in Washington in the United States, on October 20, 193 among them were selected, including the Algerian artist Mohamed-Cherif Sahli of Bordj Bou Arréridj, who was able to win under the critical eye of a very selective jury an honorable 14e place, for his painting entitled “The thirst” inspired by the surrealist school of Salvador Dali.
A theme that came at the right time with the COP 26 held in Scotland, where experts and heads of state tried to correct the trajectory of climate change, and especially to evoke the drought that is raging in Algeria. A little earlier, on October 14, the artist had participated with the same canvas in the “Discovery of an artist” event in New Zealand.
Still in virtual mode, Mohamed-Cherif Sahli, in line with optimism this time, took part in Argentina on October 22 in the “World Genyus Carpatian Royal Art” Exhibition, with a canvas representing poppies.
From January 3 to 8, 2020, in person, he participated in the International Fair held in Morocco, alongside other participants from Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, Lebanon, Ivory Coast, among other countries . In the artist’s agenda, another artistic meeting will be held on November 26 in Cuba which will house the “Bizarros Virtual Exhibition”, through a canvas relating to modern abstract art, representing harmony grids and colors.
“It’s an art that I learned for only two months with a disabled American artist. Seeing the quality of the work on my first painting, she encouraged me enormously to devote myself to this kind of art. I intend to participate in the next event with a canvas imbued with Berber culture. It is already made, but I am looking to enlarge it so that I can enter the competition and why not win a prize ”, emphasizes our interlocutor.
As a music lover, the artist has dedicated a space in the upper part of his duplex located in Bordj Bou Arréridj to a few musical instruments, a guitar, a piano, a drums… and, as a workshop, he has set up another space on the ground floor with painting tools, where tubes of acrylic, pastel and oil paint overlap.
It is enough for him to mix the brushes to give birth to masterpieces.
