Van Gucht thinks that travel will still be possible this summer, “but we have to remain careful, because we are now learning that the pandemic is not over yet while the vaccination campaign is about halfway through”. “40 percent have had their two vaccinations; so we still have a long way to go.”
That’s why we have to be careful, and party trips are not a good idea for Van Gucht yet. “Dive into the nightlife in Madrid or Barcelona, I wouldn’t do that yet. But traveling in a safe way – on the beach, in the woods, outdoor activities in your bubble – actually you can.” Preferably you do not do this in a red zone, but in a green or orange zone. Your activities determine how safe that is.
