Charité chief virologist Christian Drosten now warns of a devastating corona wave after the summer. “It will be critical in autumn, that’s for sure. Then there will be countless undetected cases in the municipalities because the danger in summer is out of sight, ”says the expert to the“ Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung ”. “Then I expect a sudden increase in the number of corona cases with dire consequences and many deaths.”

The expert therefore demands that “you have to create more capacities in intensive care beds with high pressure” in order to be able to cope with the new corona wave. Otherwise, Drosten expects difficult decisions if doctors have to choose between treating an old man or a young woman. “This is not an alarmism that I am sometimes accused of. These are not horror scenarios, but will become reality if there is a rapid spread. ”
