An unvaccinated man from Virginia who was hospitalized for Covid-19 used social media to urge others to come out and get shots.
Travis Campbell, 43, has been in hospital for more than a week due to complications from the virus that infected his wife and two children.
“We thought we were invincible and we weren’t going to get it,” said his wife, Kelly Campbell. “We’ve been very busy, we’ve just moved in, and it’s been taking us a long time to get vaccinated.”
Kelly Campbell said her husband tested positive on July 22 and his condition was gradually deteriorating. In the end, he was taken to the hospital. She worries that he is on a ventilator to help with breathing.
“I mean, he can’t breathe. He has a fever, he is lethargic, he is in pain, one by one.” “He started in the normal ward, then went to the Covid ICU, and now he’s in the pulmonary intensive care unit.”
His wife said that despite his condition, Travis Campbell insisted on making a video to share on Facebook to encourage others to get vaccinated now.
“I assure all my bulletproof friends it’s time to protect your family, no point in suffering lung damage or long term death, please get vaccinated,” Travis Campbell wrote on July 25. Facebook share.
Kelly Campbell said her husband “is about everything to other people” and doesn’t want anyone else to have to deal with what he’s going through.
“He doesn’t want anyone to endure the pain he’s going through, and if a vaccine is going to help them, that’s what they need to do,” he said.
in a video Posted from his hospital bed On Tuesday evening, Travis Campbell asked his followers to consider whether they would prefer to plan their funerals and farewells or receive vaccinations.
“I hope to God that all my friends and family won’t say to me, ‘Someone give me a piece of paper and a pen. “It was a realistic idea, and I did it,” he said.
With family and doctors dealing with her husband’s condition day in and day out, Kelly Campbell says her advice to others is to get out and get vaccinated right away.
“If you have to take time off work, if you have to miss something, go get vaccinated, because we haven’t done it yet, and see where we are now,” he said. “I mean, that should be your top priority. Especially not only for you, but also for your family members.”
