Richard Branson’s Virgin group invested an enormous amount of money in 2017 in a super-fast railway project designed to travel at 1,220 km / h. Virgin Hyperloop – because that is the name of the transport system, has just successfully passed the first tests with live passengers.
The test took place on Sunday, November 8, and the first passengers were Technology Director and Co-Founder Josh Giegel and Sara Luchian, Director of Customer Service.
The capsule, named Pegasus, transported people without problems through a specially marked test section of 500 meters. The entire journey took just 15 seconds, and the vehicle reached a speed of 160 km / h.
This is, of course, not much in relation to the 1220 km / h that Virgin Hyperloop is ultimately to develop. Nevertheless, the test clearly proved that the vacuum tunnel technology is safe for passengers.
