Virgin Galactic’s VSS Unity Successfully Completes Flight with Italian Air Force Colonels and Research Engineer: Future Launches and Ticket Sales Updates

VSS Unity was carrying three Virgin Galactic passengers and five employees. The passengers were two Italian Air Force colonels and an engineer from the Italian National Research Council.

The launch took place from Spaceport America in New Mexico. The launch vehicle “WK2” lifted the “VSS Unity” to an altitude of about 15 kilometers, after which the spacecraft disconnected. Then it rose almost vertically to an altitude of about 80 kilometers, spent several minutes in a weightless state and began to soar downward. About an hour and a half after the start of the flight, the spacecraft landed safely.

“Sky News” clarifies that the next space plane launch is scheduled for August 2023. After that, Virgin Galactic plans to fly every month.

“Al Jazeera” writes that the company has sold approximately 800 tickets for future flights – 600 of them were sold between 2005 and 2014 at prices ranging from 200,000 to 250,000 dollars. In the following years, another 200 places were reserved. The price for them reached 450 thousand dollars.
