Cáritas, October 5, 2023.- On the occasion of the celebration next October 12 ° of the Virgen del Pilar festivity, the Civil Guard Command will donate the proceeds derived from some of the events that have been organized on the occasion of this celebration.
The first vice president, Juancho Ortizhas accompanied the lieutenant colonel acting chief of the Civil Guard Command in Cádiz, Luis Martin, at the presentation of the sports event «VIII Green Mile and 5 Km» which will be one of the organized activities and whose proceeds will be donated to Caritas Diocesana of Cádiz. The Green Mile will take place on Sunday October 8th and will run along a 5 kilometer closed circuit, located between Carpinteros de Ribera street, Las Cortes de Cádiz avenue and the Bahía de Cádiz promenade, in the area around the Command. Participation is open to all ages and categories. In addition, there is a category for members of the Civil Guard and another for people with disabilities. The start of the first races will be at 9:30 am. Registration will be open up to half an hour after the test.
Lieutenant Colonel Luis Martín has highlighted “the commitment of the Civil Guard to the values of sport”, hence the continued commitment to a competition that this year promises to break the registration record, now standing at around 300.
The Provincial Council, Ortiz pointed out, “is permanently open to collaborating in this type of events aimed at sports promotion, even more so in this case, which has a solidarity purpose.” On the other hand, the vice president has welcomed the opportunity presented by the arrival of a good number of runners, companions and visitors in general to an area of Cádiz that receives an important economic injection during the day.
Beyond the strictly sporting aspect, the test has a solidarity nature, since the benefits of it will go entirely to Cáritas Diocesana de Cádizon whose behalf the head of the communication team has thanked the collaboration, Antonio Jimenez which has valued this type of collaboration due to the importance it has in being able to continue with the development of social projects in favor of the people that Cáritas accompanies.
People interested in collaborating with the charitable cause without taking the test have the so-called “zero number” at their disposal to make their contribution.
On the other hand, during the day on Sunday, and taking advantage of the influx of people around the sporting event, an open day will be held at the Cádiz Civil Guard Command. Attendees, in addition to getting to know the facilities, will be able to enjoy demonstrations and exhibitions by the agents. During the days, a solidarity meal will be held, also aimed at supporting the social action of Cáritas.
