Chennai: A young man beat up his friend because of his admiration for Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma? Who is Cayman? The question would be contested and ultimately lead to the murder. The shocking incident took place in Poyyur, Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu. P Vignesh (24) was killed. The police arrested his friend S Dharmaraj (21).
Sitting near the CIDCO Industrial Estate near Mallur on Tuesday night, Rohit fan Sharma Vignesh and Virat fan Kohli Dharmaraj were discussing IPL cricket. They were both drunk. Meanwhile, Vignesh mocked RCB and Virat Kohli and praised Rohit Sharma and the Indians of Mumbai. With this, the controversy got bigger. Kalipunda Dharmaraj struck Vignesh with a bottle of liquor in his hand and fatally hit him in the head with a cricket bat, Keelapalur police said.
“They were both drunk. Vignesh supported the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Dharmaraj was a supporter of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). During the discussion, Vignesh mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Dharmarajan has V. Vignesh used to humiliate Dharmaraj by saying this. Vignesh compared the RCB team to Dharmaraj’s speech difficulty. Enraged by this, Dharmaraj attacked Vignesh with a bottle and then hit him in the head with a cricket bat. Dharmaraj immediately fled the place, ‘police said.
Workers working in nearby CIDCO factories discovered Vignesh’s body and informed the police. The police sent the body for an autopsy and arrested Dharmaraj.
