Sea water video emits light blue on the beach of Venice, California, viral on social media. The dark night conditions make this blue light look very contrasting and attract attention, like a scene in the movie Avatar.

Phenomenon This was captured by one of the tourists who uploaded it to the Twitter account @louisecole. “I witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, glowing algae appearing in seas and beaches in California. When we ran to the Venice beach this is what we saw! I have to jump into the sea, the sea is shining around me, I feel like in Avatar!,” wrote Cole quoted on Friday (4/7/2023).

The phenomenon of glowing sea is known as bioluminescence, which is the emission of light that is produced living beings due to certain chemical reactions. Quoted from Livescience, some animals are known to be able to create their own light, which is called bioluminescence.
