As uploaded by account @lim16_ on Wednesday (11/5/2022), the video showed a note worth Rp. 10,000 which was called a miscut, because the cut did not match.

Can sell up to millions of Rupiah

When contacted Kompas.comthe uploader Yanto Lim said he as a collector was attracted to the miscut money because of its unique shape.

As for the price determination, it is seen from the condition of the miscut money, such as smooth, new, no folds, and extreme or scarcity of the form of money.

Even according to Yanto, a very extreme form of miscut money can be pegged up to Rp. 1 million.

Determination miscut money price can also be seen from the nominal. For example, money with a nominal value of IDR 100,000 tends to be worth higher than the nominal value below it.

However, according to Yanto, the nominal Rp 10,000 could be higher in price than the nominal Rp 100,000 if the form of the discount was more extreme.

Director of the Department of Communications of Bank Indonesia (BI) Junanto Herdiawan said that defective money in the form of misprint or miscut money could not be used as a means of payment.

As for people who find defective money such as miscut money, they can exchange it to BI.

As long as the authenticity of the money is believed, the public will receive an exchange according to its nominal value.

“The public can exchange it to BI and get an exchange with the appropriate nominal value, as long as the authenticity of the defective money can be trusted,” Junanto said. Kompas.comSaturday (4/6/2022).

Junanto continued, his party will destroy the defective money so that it does not circulate in the community.

Going forward, BI will continue to improve monitoring and coordination with Peruri, the public company for the Mint of the Republic of Indonesia.

How to change money to BI

Reported Kompas.com22 September 2021, Junanto explained that the conditions for exchanging money at BI must be valid money.

If the money has been withdrawn from circulation, then it must still be within the limits of its exchange.

Here’s how to exchange miscut or damaged money to BI:

1. Bring damaged money that still meets the requirements according to Bank Indonesia
2. Visit the BI office or a commercial bank that serves damaged currency exchange
3. Hand over the money you want to exchange to the officer
4. The officer will do scanning to the money brought
5. If the damaged money still meets the requirements, the money will be replaced with the same nominal
6. If the money does not meet the requirements, the officer will ask you to fill out the research application form provided
7. If you do not wish to continue the research process, the money will be refunded.
