The video, in which the tobacconist explained to the robber that the cash register could no longer be opened, after which he fled without taking anything, went viral. The man was arrested on Monday.
A week and a half ago, a video about a failed robbery at a tobacconist in Graz caused laughter on the Internet. You can see the owner of the shop explaining to the suspect, despite being at gunpoint, that the cash register cannot be opened after 6 p.m. “You’ll have to come earlier next time,” he told him. The man then left without taking anything. The police had published the clip to catch the perpetrator, which they have apparently succeeded in doing.
As “Kronenzeitung” and “Heute” report, an anonymous tip led to a suspect from the district of Weiz. He is said to have committed seven robberies in Styria and Burgenland. In addition to tobacconists, he also had his sights set on gas stations and a betting café. He was arrested on Monday by order of the Eisenstadt public prosecutor’s office. The murder weapon is believed to be a toy gun. His motive was apparently money. (Red.)
