A video showing a convoy of motorcyclists carrying posters reading ‘Resurrection Khilafah circulating on social media. They also carried flags inscribed with Arabic script.
In the video that was circulated, a statement was also written that the incident occurred in the Cawang area, East Jakarta on Sunday (29/5) at around 09.14 WIB.
There were several kinds of posters carried by the motorcycle riders in the convoy. One of them reads ‘WELCOME THE RESURRECTION OF THE ISLAMIC CHILFAH’.
East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Head AKBP Edy Surasa suspected the convoy was heading to a party event in Central Jakarta last Sunday (29/5).
“Maybe it was yesterday if I’m not mistaken there was a demonstration. Yesterday there was a (party event) in Senayan there,” said Edy when contacted, Monday (30/5).
However, Edy did not talk much about the motorcycle convoy carrying the poster for the revival of the caliphate. He argued that his party did not handle it.
“About attributes, maybe traffic doesn’t (handle). Traffic only handles when there is an accident. If it’s a matter of regional ranks, yes,” he said.
“If it’s the flag, we won’t take care of it,” added Edy.
Contacted separately, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Endra Zulpan did not want to comment on the convoy.
“Later, yes,” said Zulpan briefly.
