“Viral Video: Colón’s Unconventional Penalty Kick in Argentine Soccer”

Colón rescued a point during his visit to Independiente at the Libertadores de América stadium, in a match that is talked about on social networks due to a naive penalty. The veteran defender Paolo Goltz took the ball with his hands when he was in play and after the VAR review there was no discussion. Terrible mistake!

It all happened 28 minutes into the first half, when Colón led 0-1. The goalkeeper Ignacio Chicco located the ball to take the goal, it was moved to Paolo Goltz after a short chat and the defender ended up picking it up to place it in another place. Automatically the Independiente players warned the referee.

After several minutes of deliberation with the VAR, the referee awarded a penalty. A terrible blooper by the veteran defender who will go down in history as one of the most childish in professional football. In the end, Colón managed to scratch a point after drawing 2-2 in stoppage time.
