FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The preacher Ustadz Derry Sulaiman became a topic of conversation when the polemic regarding Rohingya refugees was becoming a concern in Indonesia.
Derry Sulaiman went viral after a video he uploaded went viral. It contained a statement that openly admitted that it was ready to accommodate Rohingya refugees in its Islamic boarding school in the Tasikmalaya area, West Java.
The confession video of a former metal musician who is now known as a preacher of course immediately went viral. Moreover, the topic of discussion is the issue of refugees which is currently a concern for Indonesian citizens.
It started when Ustaz Derry Sulaiman responded to a netizen’s question who suggested that Rohingya refugees be placed at his residence.
“It’s better to just stay at the ustad’s house, I agree more,” wrote one netizen, to which Ustaz Derry Sulaiman then responded via stitch video.
In the response video, the preacher who is skilled at playing the guitar said that he would accommodate Rohingya refugees in his Islamic boarding school in Tasikmalaya.
“Okay, if this can be taken care of, help the government whoever listens to this video, God willing, I am ready to accept all Rohingya refugees in Aceh,” said Ustaz Derry in his viral video.
“Yes, God willing, I am now building an Islamic boarding school in Tasikmalaya, an Islamic boarding school in DSAS, with my friends,” he explained.
“God willing, they can work there, can stay there, study there. God willing, I will also find work there,” he said.
