Indonesian Junior Doctors Network (JDN) founder Dr. Andi Khomeini Takdir Haruni can’t stop thinking that salary for trainee doctors in urban areas won’t be revised after previously viral salary was set at IDR 1 million. He also suggested that it would be better to abolish the internship program if the amount of living expenses assistance was not at least higher than the UMR.
“If it turns out that Indonesia pays doctors 1 million a month, the other G20 countries will laugh, it’s very close to the poverty line,” he said on his personal Twitter page, quoted detik com with permission concerned on Friday (16/12/2022).
With this figure, according to the man who is familiarly called Dr. Koko, doctors cannot work optimally. Daily needs, including just eating, can be difficult to meet.
Fortunately, Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin since Thursday (12/15) immediately revised the policy on the amount of out-of-pocket assistance for trainee doctors in provincial capitals or urban areas. Now, BBH officially becomes IDR 3.2 million, the same as last year.
Dr. Koko is grateful for the quick response that has been given by the government. However, he still provided a number of notes on this BBH.
”I suggest that the lower amount may be adjusted to the minimum UMR/UMP of general practitioners in that area. If it’s more than that, that’s fine, especially in remote areas there must be fuel costs and other things,” he said when contacted by detikcom on Thursday (12/15).
“At least it’s above the UMR and there’s a little extra to spare,” he ordered.
The six categories of BBH quantities differentiated by location are detailed below:
1. First category, Remote Areas, Borders and Islands (DTPK): IDR 6,499,575 per month
2. Second category, Maluku, NTT, Papua areas outside DTPK: IDR 3,999,574 per month
3. The third category, Kalimantan and Sulawesi excluding DTPK: IDR 3,727,034 per month
4. Fourth category, Sumatra and NTB outside the provincial capital and DTPK: IDR 3,498,800 per month
5. The fifth category, Capital of Sumatra and NTB Provinces: IDR 3,241,200 per month
6. The sixth category, Java and Bali: IDR 3,241,200 per month
