New York City is currently offering more Airbnbs than apartment rentalsand it is that finding a decent place to live in the city can be more difficult than it was before due to high rent prices.
In recent months, New York has seen its biggest rent increases in decades, and this trend doesn’t look like it will stop any time soon.
Because of the difference between high demand and low availability, some New Yorkers looking for an apartment to live in are currently finding only expensive units regardless of size.
A video that recently went viral on TikTok shows a New York apartment reportedly priced at $4,000 a month.even though it didn’t seem anywhere near worth what they were asking for.
And it is that the door cannot even be opened completely, since, if one tries to open it, it collides with the stove of the apartment that blocks the door by barely opening it halfway.
“I work for the Department of Housing Preservation and Development and I’m pretty sure there are some housing code violations in that apartment,” one person said in the comments section.

Although the high price could be due to the fact that the apartment has several rooms, is well located or has some other attractive factor – something that the creator of the video did not specify – it is certainly alarming to see it and know how much is being asked for it, for which sparked a whole discussion on the social network about how much an apartment in New York should really be worth.
