KOMPAS.com – A post depicting the story of a man from Indonesia who was contracted and paid for by a software company Adobe IDR 90 million, viral on social media.

The man named Kevin Pramudya Utama uploaded the story on his personal Twitter account, @sadness_loop on Thursday (10/9/2020).

Kevin said that at first he was surprised when he was contacted directly by the world-famous software company.

“Want to tell a story about how this nobody I was contacted by Adobe until the deal was contracted and paid USD 6,000, but will anyone listen :(,” tuis Kevin in his upload.

Kevin explained that it all started when he participated in a photo contest held by Adobe and JNTO (Japan National Tourism Organization).

Before participating in the photo contest, Kevin admitted that he already knew that the event he was participating in would not provide prizes to winners.

“Yes, from the start there was no mention of what the prize was. When the announcement turned out that there were no prizes,” said Kevin when contacted. Kompas.com, Saturday (12/9/2020).

However, Kevin did not worry about it because if he won. In fact, he felt proud because the contest was on an international scale and was held by a world-class software company, Adobe.

Kevin added that the contest was divided into two types, first, a photo editing contest that had been prepared by Adobe and the second, a personal photo editing contest, but photos had to be taken at Japan.

“I joined the second one. That category is still divided into 6 sub categories and I just followed the six-six,” said Kevin.

Kevin, who in fact only graduated from a Vocational High School (SMK), admits that the knowledge of editing photos he gets comes from the YouTube video platform.

Learning from there, he tries to compete with leading and classy photo editors from several other countries.

“Well, the announcement was March 11, 2020. Seeing the edits from other participants, I feel pessimistic. But, when I opened the results, my photo appeared at the top, meaning I won,” said Kevin.

With the intention of checking out the other winners, Kevin tried to scroll through the screen.

Unexpectedly, another photo in a different category turned out to be chosen by the sponsor, so that two of his photos were selected as winners.

“The first winner is for the tradition category, then the sponsor chosen is the outdoor category. The outdoor one is the winner, but the sponsor @outdoorproject is chosen if the traditional one is chosen by Adobe directly,” said Kevin.

Got nothing, but …

Kevin said that even though his photo was selected twice, he did not receive any prizes.

Even so, Kevin feels very grateful for winning the photo editing contest on the international scene.

In addition, the 23-year-old man admitted that he received a contract from Adobe to work on several joint projects in exchange for 6,000 US dollars or around Rp 90 million.

“9 days after the announcement, if I’m not mistaken, March 20, 2020, there was an email admitting it from Adobe’s product manager who offered several projects. Also included was a fee of 6,000 dollars,” said Kevin.

Previously, Kevin had an online meeting with Adobe to discuss the contract.

Long story short, there was an agreement to make discovery file and 20 tutorial editing for Adobe Lightroom with the website provided.

“Discovery files are a kind of tutorial without words, so we only see the editing process from start to finish, and can be found in the Lightroom application,” said Kevin.

Kevin admitted that the project needed a struggle that was not easy but fortunately it was completed well.

Money is given to the family

Kevin said that he gave 6,000 dollars or Rp 90 million to his family.

The father, wanted to build a business in the field of herbal products and it was made possible by the money he gave.

“Yes, I want a little useful for the family,” explained Kevin.

The man who currently lives in Sakura Country, Japan also said that in the past his edits were often ridiculed and belittled.

However, it seemed to have turned 180 degrees when Kevin won an international photo editing contest.

“No matter what, I prefer to focus on realizing my own dreams, until what I call dreamers becomes Kevin Pramudya Utama,” said Kevin.
