PEKANBARU – A viral photo on social media. The photo shows an upside-down Red and White flag in Riau Province installed upside down at the official residence of the Governor of Riau Syamsuar.
The red and white flag that looks upside down was initially viral and spread from WhatsApp groups. The large flag was seen fluttering among the other small flags around it.
In the photo written coordinates when the photo was taken. The location is on Jalan MH Thamrin, Pekanbaru. The photo was taken today at 07.36 WIB.
The head of the Riau PP Police Unit, Hadi Ponandio, confirmed the inverted flag incident. The flag was turned upside down after being hoisted by the Satpol PP at 06.00 WIB.
“Yes, that’s right, the flag was flown upside down. It happened this morning. It’s been fixed,” said Hadi to detikcom, Friday (27/8/2021)
Hadi said the flag was overturned when the officers raised it routinely. After 1 hour of flying, the officers realized the flag was upside down.
“It’s been about an hour before it was repaired,” said Hadi.
Hadi said the incident was purely the negligence of the officers. He apologized for the incident of raising the flag upside down. ***
