Viral, Shark Body Fish but Pig Face

ROMA – A strange fish, which has the body of a shark but the face of a pig, was found in the waters of the island of Elba, Italy . An Italian Navy officer got goosebumps when he first picked up the animal that has now gone viral.

A Navy officer found him floating in the water at the Darsena Medicea marina, Portoferraio City, Elba Island.

Although the discovery occurred three weeks ago, the strange animal quickly went viral when photos of it were posted.posting on social media.

PostingThe video immediately garnered hundreds of comments, including criticism from internet users who thought the shark was deliberately caught and killed.

The find also gave rise to rumors that it was some kind of mutant. However, the rumors were muted after the animal was identified by experts as the extremely rare Angular rough shark (Oxynotus centrina).

Sometimes the sea animal is also known as the pig-faced shark which usually lives up to 2,300 feet below sea level.
