A receipt tire repairs for IDR 600 thousand viral on social media. The owner of a tire repair shop argues that the price is appropriate because the tire patch uses the silicone press method.
The workshop where the Rp 600 thousand receipt was issued was Dian Tubles on Jalan Dr. Soetomo, Banyuwangi. Patch silicone tire press, claimed by the workshop owner, Acey Sucahyono, is expensive because it uses imported materials and special expertise.
Is the price of patching silicone tire press in other workshops also the same as Dian Tubles?
Rony, one of the owners of a tire repair shop in Banyuwangi, claimed to set the most expensive price of Rp 150 thousand for silicone press. Even then, the tire damage was quite severe. Ie, torn tires or patches in a slightly difficult location.
“The most expensive is Rp. 150 thousand. Even if it is badly damaged and cannot be tubeless,” he told AFP on Monday (07/06/2020).
As for patching tubeless tires, he set a price of Rp. 25 thousand. For the tire patch, the tip top method costs Rp. 75 thousand.
“I always offer what methods first. If you want tubeless, I will give you tubeless prices. Because silicon press is expensive,” he added.
Rony admitted that the material actually using the silicon press method is easy to get and the price is very cheap. He claimed to be able to get from online sales.
“For the glue, one tube costs Rp. 35 thousand. While the machine is the most expensive Rp. 1 million. There are online sales, many there,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Dian Tubles workshop owner Acey Sucahyono claimed tire repairs his silicon press method is different from other silicon presses. Because it requires special expertise that is only owned by him and his children in Banyuwangi.
