viral! Passengers’ suitcases were rattled off the conveyor belt

Melbourne

A video showing handling Baggage a particularly bad day by officers at Melbourne airport has gone viral. Suitcases were thrown and slammed as they entered the conveyor belt.

The minute-long footage, reportedly filmed at Melbourne airport, shows suitcases being slammed onto a conveyor belt by airport staff. The clerk threw the suitcases into the air and threw one bag with such force that it fell off the conveyor belt.

In the video it can be seen that the action was carried out by three men wearing bright green vests. They unload the bags with tags Qantas. They were seen smiling as they threw their bags onto the conveyor belt.

Apparently, they were employees of Qantas’ subcontractor Swissport, the partner Qantas worked with to perform groundhandling services at Melbourne Airport.

“The behavior in this video is clearly unacceptable and our contracted ground operator is conducting an urgent investigation,” a Qantas spokesperson said. Keeper.

“Swissport has trained and managed all staff to handle customer property with care and diligence. The actions of the staff in the video contravenes these service level standards. As a result, the affected staff have resigned pending an investigation urgent,” a Swissport spokesman said.

Swissport Chief Executive Brad Moore wrote to staff saying the behavior in the video was shocking for all of Swissport.

“Arbitrary handling of customer baggage will not be tolerated and will result in serious disciplinary action. Rest assured that the matter will be investigated with appropriate follow-up action. Some people’s unacceptable behavior will not go unpunished or may affect the quality of the work of our entire team,” Moore said.

Qantas’ mishandling of baggage isn’t the only time this has happened and gone viral. Last month, Qantas baggage handlers went viral on social media after they were caught on camera slamming passengers’ bags at Karratha Airport, Pilbara, Western Australia.
