Viral on social media about the discovery of objects similar to tanks floating in Natuna Sea, Riau islands. The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) confirmed that the object was not dangerous.
In the viral photo, a brown object resembling a tank can be seen floating in the ocean.
“Yes, it is true that there were findings of objects similar to tanks, but they were not dangerous,” said Marine Major Saul Jamlaay, head of the Lantamal IV Information Service, as reported by Antara on Saturday (12/18/2021).
According to him, the object belongs to the oil and gas company Star Energy from the snapper block rig. The company is drilling in the Natuna Sea.
“The company has acknowledged this. The object drifted away by itself,” he said.
Currently the warship KRI Gugus Tempur Laut (Guspurla) has docked at the location where the object was found.
Meanwhile, Lantamal IV has not been able to get close to it because of the extreme weather.
“We don’t have any information whether they have been evacuated or not,” said Saul.
