The results of this X-ray were shared by a doctor named Anne Gabriel-Chan. In total, he uploaded 4 photos, 3 of which are lung X-rays COVID-19 patient who have been vaccinated, using either the Sinovac, AstraZeneca, or Pfizer vaccines.
While another photo shows the lungs of patients who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. In this photo, the patient’s lungs are full of white patches.
“Three patients experienced mild to almost asymptomatic and one patient (who had not been vaccinated) was gasping for air and was immediately admitted to the ICU. Please see their chest X-rays below,” he wrote.
Pulmonologist’s response
According to a pulmonary doctor from the Royal Taruma Hospital, West Jakarta, Dr. Budhi Antariksa, SpP(K), people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will indeed have immunity to corona virus. Therefore, the body will avoid serious illness when exposed to COVID-19.
“What I know is that patients who have been vaccinated are clinically stronger than those who have not been vaccinated, because their bodies already have strong antibodies due to the vaccine,” said Dr Budhi when contacted. detik.com, Wednesday (28/7/2021).
“So that’s what happened to his lungs too, the lungs of patients who have been vaccinated will have fewer signs of inflammation (pneumonia), so that when an X-ray of the lungs is taken, it will look like the picture above,” he explained.
Agree with Dr. Budhi, a pulmonary doctor from the Friendship Hospital, Dr. Erlang Samoedro, SpP, also said that people who had vaccinated against COVID-19 tend to only experience mild symptoms when infected with the Corona virus.
Dr. Erlang said that although the X-ray photo is not known for certain whether it is from the results of the examination of COVID-19 patients or not, but it can be an example of the impact of Corona virus infection on people who have not been vaccinated and those who have.
“Vaccination protects from exposure to COVID and when infected the symptoms become lighter if the photo depicts the severity of the disease,” said Dr Erlang in a separate interview.
“But I also don’t know if it’s a real photo of a patient or not, but it’s just a parable,” he said.
