Group debt collector who in a video yelled at the police has been arrested. Dirkrimum confirmed this Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Hengki Haryadi on Wednesday (22/2).

Previously, a viral video circulated regarding a debt collector who forcibly took away celebrity Clara Shinta’s car, which led to shouting at Bhabinkamtibmas members.

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya immediately moved to follow up on the incident by chasing after the debt collectors who yelled at police officers. Now, the three debt collectors have been arrested by the police.

“Yes, we have secured some of them and will release them soon,” said the Director General of Crime and Crime of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Hengki Haryadi in his statement, as quoted SecondWednesday (22/2).

Meanwhile, according to Hengki, one perpetrator is still being pursued by the police, because he reportedly returned to his hometown in Saparua, Ambon. “We are chasing one perpetrator to Saparua Ambon,” said Hengki.

Apart from arresting the debt collector who yelled at Bhabinkamtibmas members, Polda Metro Jaya also arrested seven thugs from different groups.

According to Hengki, the officer’s quick response was in accordance with the instructions from the Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Inspector General Fadil Imran, who emphasized that he would not provide a place for thuggery.

“The state cannot be defeated by acts of thuggery. We will catch them, we will pursue them, and we will take firm action against any acts of thuggery in DKI Jakarta,” said Hengki.

Hengki also stressed that it is not justified for debt collectors to confiscate vehicles on the road, because the withdrawal of vehicles has been regulated in the Fiduciary Law. Debt collectors are prohibited from taking the action of intercepting, brushing, and seizing vehicles without an effective mechanism.

“There is no executorial right for the debt collector if there is no agreement between the debtor and the creditor, and the debtor refuses to hand over his vehicle. Therefore this must go through a court order, in other words it cannot be taken by force,” he explained.

Hengki also appealed to the debt collectors who forcibly pulled Clara Shinta’s celebrity car to surrender to the police. Previously, the action of the debt collector snapping at members of the police made the Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Fadil Imran furious. Fadil Imran was ‘boiling’ because his members were yelled at by debt collectors.

“I see these thugs are starting to run rampant in Jakarta. Until last night I went to bed at 3 o’clock, my blood was boiling, I saw the members being insulted,” said Fadil Imran in an Instagram video upload.

Fadil instructed his members not to allow the debt collector’s arbitrary actions. He also asked the debt collector to be dealt with firmly.

“There are no more places for thugs in Jakarta. Don’t back down, my heart is sad. Those debt collectors like that, don’t let them, fight them, arrest them, don’t use them for long,” he said.
