Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan talk a lot about choosing the location of the venue Formula E which was originally intended to be held in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, was finally held in Ancol, North Jakarta.
Anies said that Ancol was chosen after several locations were rejected. However, there is a silver lining from this incident.
This was conveyed by Anies at the DKI PKS event a few days ago. Anies’ statement then went viral on social media and was also uploaded by Anies Volunteer, Geisz Chalifah on his Instagram account, @geisz_chalifah, Sunday (29/5). CNNIndonesia.com already got permission to quote from the account @geisz_chalifah.
“This is broadcast live in more than 170 countries, broadcasting the match live. We want us to have an icon that the world knows, why do we want it at Monas? So that the face of Monas, the Monas image will become a world icon,” Anies said in the video.
“That’s his goal. Uh, you can’t, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, that’s it, so where do you move? Move to Ancol,” continued Anies.
Anies did not specify the parties who did not allow Formula E to be held at Monas. However, according to Anies, the failure of Monas to become the location of Formula E actually gave a lesson.
With Monas not allowed, the Formula E circuit was finally built in the Ancol area, adjacent to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
“Subhanallah, what happened? The background image is the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS),” Anies said to applause from those present.
“So later when the match backgroundJIS’s. We didn’t prepare. Evicted, evicted, evicted, we are finally here,” Anies continued.
The lesson, according to Anies, is that JIS will become Jakarta’s new icon after becoming the backdrop for Formula E car racing.
“And when we are finally here, the Jakarta icon will be JIS. Alhamdulillah. Even though the plan was Monas. This is a lesson that comes later,” said Anies.
“Only we are not [Nabi] Khidir, sir. If we are Prophet Khidir we know before the incident. We are a group [Nabi] Musa, sir, what happened earlier then you know the wisdom,” said Anies again.
As is known, Formula E Jakarta will be held at the Ancol Circuit, Saturday (4/6). Ancol was chosen among a number of other locations considered by the committee, including Monas.
This race is the ninth series which is the first race in the second half of the 2022 season.
