Jakarta

The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) stated that it had reprimanded shopping centers selling cooking oil of Rp. 14,000 per liter on conditions. This follows the viral video that tells of a consumer having to spend Rp. 50 thousand to get the cooking oil.

The Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Oke Nurwan, said that his party had reprimanded the shopping center. He said shopping centers were not allowed to sell cooking oil on conditions.

“Yes, I’ve been reprimanded, I haven’t. You can’t have to buy IDR 50 thousand to buy it (cooking oil), no, I’ve been reprimanded,” he told detikcom, Sunday (23/1/2022).

He said the issue had gone viral a few days ago. He said the problem had been resolved.

“It’s not viral this time, it went viral yesterday two days ago, two days or three days ago,” he said.

Regarding this matter, he admitted that he did not give any sanctions. “No,” he said.

To note, the video of purchasing cooking oil with these conditions is viral on Instagram. One person suspected of being a consumer asked the cashier who was wearing a light dominant shirt regarding the conditions for purchasing cooking oil. The cashier confirmed that to buy cooking oil for Rp. 14,000, it must be accompanied by a purchase or spending of Rp. 50 thousand.

The consumer in the video revealed that the purchase of cooking oil with this condition occurred at Lottemart Cibitung.
