A video showing a man riding a motorbike chasing a car at Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, has gone viral on social media. The man pretends to be run over by a car and demands accountability.

It is known that the incident occurred in front of the PP Plaza, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/1/2022).

“(The police did) check information about the victims of the hit-and-run mode, as if their feet were crushed by a car tire, pretending to be limping,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for East Jakarta Police AKBP Ahsanul Muqaffi.

The police have also examined a number of witnesses related to the case. According to witness statements, the incident occurred at the Susu Bendara red light leading to the Tanjung Timur red light.

“There were two men who were not recognized by the witness and then ran towards the driver of the Avanza car,” said Ahsanul.

In the car, there was 1 man driving the car and 2 women as passengers.

“The male offender who was in a cradle position ran after the black Avanza and stopped in front of the car shouting, pointing at his feet as if he was run over by the victim’s car,” said Ahsanul.

But another passerby shouted that the man was lying. Local residents then asked the perpetrator to leave because of traffic jams due to him stopping the car.

“Whereas previously the perpetrators ran fast in front of the car, the reason (asking for accountability) was to seek treatment,” he said.
