NEW YORK — New York City experienced a violent weekend of shootings that left injuries and one dead. The victims included minors.
The most recent case occurred on Sunday night, when a shooting left 4 people injured, including a 12-year-old girl. The shooting occurred at around 9:45 p.m. in front of a building located at 1780 Eastburn Ave in the county of the Bronx. Upon arrival, authorities found a 12-year-old girl with gunshot wounds to the shoulder, a 35-year-old woman with foot injuries, and a 23-year-old man with thigh injuries.
All three were transported to the hospital. St. Barnabas in stable condition, police said. Shortly after, a 22-year-old man arrived at the hospital. Bronx Lebanon with a gunshot wound, product of the same shooting, and in stable condition, added the uniformed woman.
In this case it is unknown if the victims were the target of the shooting or a description of the possible perpetrators.
The shooting comes a day after a 15-year-old was fatally shot Saturday afternoon at the state park. Riverbank State Park in Manhattan. The tragedy occurred at about 6:45 pm, when there were children playing and families gathered. New York State Police and New York City Police officers responded to the shooting emergency.
The young victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital where she died. Officers recovered a firearm and are searching for the possible culprit.
On Friday night, around 7:00 p.m., a suspect opened fire, striking a 5-year-old girl in the back as she was sitting in a car next to her father at a street intersection. White Plains Road and 214 in the Bronx. This shooting would be related to a homicide that occurred the night before a block from the place. The minor was in stable condition at the hospital.
All cases are under investigation.
