Violent Sightings of 2 CSOs in Kebumen, Headquarters and Cars Damaged

Kebumen

The commotion between mass organizations occurred in Kebumen, Central Java, Monday (23/82/2021). Police said this incident involved Youth of Pancasila (PP) and NGOs Indonesian Lower Society Movement (GMBI). The GMBI headquarters was vandalized.

The Kebumen Police Chief, AKBP Piter Yanottama, explained that apart from the GMBI headquarters, PP mobs also damaged cars parked near the headquarters. This commotion caught the attention of road users. Locals panicked and scared.

“About five vehicles that allegedly belonged to GMBI parked in front of his office were also damaged. The glass was broken, then the car body was dented. The glass in his office was also broken,” explained Piter.

The police acted quickly, arresting dozens of PP members. “We brought about 80 members of the Pancasila Youth Organization to the Police Headquarters,” he explained.

What triggered the clashes?

“The trigger was actually a few days ago maybe a week ago there was friction but actually it wasn’t PP with GMBI but PP with someone and they hit each other. Then from GMBI offered legal assistance to that person. We will have further investigations,” explained Piter.
