The case dates back to January 2021. In the night between 21 and 22 January, eight hooded men entered the Nantes hospital to forcibly remove a person arrested by the police and admitted to the emergency room. Three of them were sentenced to prison terms after appearing before the judges two years after the events.
Three men aged 20, 23 and 25 were sentenced to prison terms for a violent intrusion into the emergency room of the University Hospital Center of Nantes (CHU) two years ago, their lawyers confirmed.
The prison sentences handed down range from 18 months to 4 years, and the three individuals are also banned from attending the CHU emergency room for two years.
The hearing was held on 2 January 2023 to judge the events that occurred during the night between 21 and 22 January 2021.
Around one in the morning, a young man admitted to the emergency room after being arrested by the police is “exfiltrated” from the trauma ward by eight accomplices, while about fifteen people protect his escape as he leaves the hospital.
Hooded, the men do not stop when they notice the presence of the police officers, nor that of the four security agents of the CHU. The latter intervene and receive violent punches and kicks.
The patient and seven of his accomplices manage to get out by forcing the automatic doors of the reception. The police chase them, while three CHU security officers drag one of the accomplices to the ground. This 21-year-old young man is brought to the police station by police reinforcements.
This “command operation” was followed by the arrest of the young hospitalized while driving dangerously in the city. The individual was already the subject of several search papers and had attempted to escape.
Reached by the police, he complained of stomach pains and was taken to the CHU emergency room, before being exfiltrated by his accomplices.
At the time, three complaints had been filed by police officers, including one injured in the knee, and five by hospital staff for violence.
During the January 2 hearing, the young man exfiltrated from the emergency room, now 25 years old and already implicated in other proceedings, received the heaviest sentence. : 4 years in prison of which one year with suspended sentence.
His 20-year-old half-brother was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 7 of which was suspended on probation. Their 23-year-old accomplice was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment, 12 of which was suspended.
The defendants […] all regretted that the medical staff witnessed such scenes.
