The violent episode, in which several people are said to have been involved in what is described as “round beatings”, is said to have resulted in the man in his 20s losing several teeth, according to Dagbladet.
According to Dagbladet’s sources, the violence must have been ordered by someone who wanted to hit the man.
Prison manager Nils Leyell Finstad will not comment on these details, but confirms that there was an episode on Tuesday.
– I can confirm that there was a serious incident of violence in Oslo prison on 10 October, where several inmates were involved in an incident in the school building, says Finstad to Dagbladet.

Charged with attempted murder
Ole Petter Drevland is defending the man who is said to have been beaten. He was not familiar with the case when Dagbladet spoke to him on Wednesday afternoon.
– I have to check that, says Drevland.
His client is one of two men charged with attempted murder after what the police believe was a gang-related shooting outside the National Theater in central Oslo on 15 January this year.
Two men were then shot and suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The offended men have long-standing, close ties to Young Guns, a well-known player in the gang environment in Oslo.

Fear of reprisals
In questioning, the other accused – also in his 20s – admitted that he shot the men.
He also expressed to the police that he was afraid of reprisals from “the guys” in Young Guns, according to Dagbladet’s information.
Furthermore, Dagbladet knows that the police believe that the accused have connections to the controversial MC club Satudarah (SMC).
They deny it themselves.

Takes the conflicts with it
The man who is designated as leader of the Oslo branch of SMC was for several years a member of Young Guns, before he broke with them around 2012.
Since then, there have been several episodes between him and his former gang brothers, in what the police have described as one of the longest-lived lines of conflict in the criminal environment in Oslo.
Fears revenge
When asked whether Tuesday’s incident can be linked to a conflict outside the walls, prison manager Finstad replies:
– On a general basis, I can say that some inmates bring the conflicts they have outside society into prison and new conflicts arise in Oslo prison.

Want more information
Finstad adds that the prison has a major challenge due to many inmates and an unclear inmate composition.
– In some cases, we want more information about inmates who are, for example, linked to gang crime. To be able to prevent serious incidents in a better way, he says.
Police attorney Christian Hatlo is leading the investigation into the Nationaltheatret shooting. He was not familiar with the incident in the prison when Dagbladet spoke to him on Wednesday afternoon.

Tuna box in sock
It is not the first time that the accused man in his 20s has been involved in a riot in Oslo prison. When the one man who was shot on 15 January was remanded in custody in April in connection with a fraud case, he was placed in the same ward as the man charged with the shooting.
It is said to have resulted in an episode where the accused is said to have tried to attack him with a can of tuna stuffed into a sock, according to Dagbladet’s information.
He was unsuccessful, however, as others intervened and stopped him.
