Violent conflict in refugee accommodation: 32-year-old dead / husband under strong suspicion – Steinau an der Straße / Marjoss
(lei) After a violent altercation in a shelter for refugees on Bad Orber Strasse on Thursday night, in which a 32-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries, the Hanau public prosecutor’s office and the responsible criminal police in Gelnhausen opened an investigation on suspicion of murder launched against the 39-year-old husband of the deceased.
At around 12:25 a.m., witnesses alerted the rescue workers and reported that two people in an apartment in the accommodation – a former restaurant – were covered in blood. When the rescue service and police arrived, the helpers found the 32-year-old resident, who showed signs of severe violence, already lifeless in the house. Any help came too late for her, an emergency doctor could only determine her death.
Police officers were able to arrest the 39-year-old on site without resistance. He also had cut injuries, the origin and cause of which are still largely unclear. Seriously injured, he was temporarily taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
The motive and the course of the crime, which apparently took place in the couple’s apartment, is now the subject of the criminal investigation. Among other things, residents had reported hearing loud screams from the apartment shortly before. The investigators assume that the crime was related to family disputes.
During the night, extensive investigative measures were initiated under the direction of the responsible public prosecutor who was present on site; Among other things, evidence was secured at the scene of the crime, in which specialists from the Hessian State Criminal Police Office were also deployed. In the course of the crime scene work, the suspected crime instrument, a knife, was also found and seized.
An autopsy scheduled for Friday at the Forensic Medicine Institute in Frankfurt am Main should provide further information about the exact cause of death.
The judicial presentation of the 39-year-old suspect at the district court in Hanau is also scheduled for tomorrow.
The couple’s three children, aged eight to 13, were temporarily placed in the care of the responsible youth welfare office.
The investigations are ongoing.
Note: If you have any questions about this report, media representatives should contact the press office of the Hanau public prosecutor’s office tomorrow, Friday.
