Violent Clash in Haryana: Mosque Set on Fire, Priest Killed – Latest Updates

Chandigarh: A Muslim mosque was set on fire and a priest was killed as the conflict between the two factions continued in Haryana. The incident happened last night around midnight. The group set fire to the Anjuman Juma Masjid 100 in Gurugram and fired at the priest and another person. Both were rushed to the hospital but the priest’s life could not be saved. Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident. With this, the number of people killed in the conflict has increased to five. Meanwhile, there was violence in Nuh yesterday evening. Shops were burnt. The assailants came shouting religious slogans. A group of around 200 was burning the shops with petrol.

Two shops were burnt in Badshapur.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar responded that the conflict was part of a big conspiracy.

He said that so far 44 FIRs have been registered and 70 people have been detained. More troops and police have been deployed at the spot. Khattar expressed his concern in a meeting with Home Minister Anil Vij and senior officials.

Prohibition and internet restrictions will continue in Nuh, Gurugram, Palwal and Faridabad. Meanwhile, the police shifted more than 2,000 people who sought refuge in a nearby temple during the conflict. Petrol purchase has been restricted.
