At the Marchant hospital in Toulouse, a patient stabbed a psychiatrist this Saturday, February 18, reports The Midi Dispatch. The doctor was quickly transferred to the city emergency room, where he received a dozen stitches.
An aggression despite the reinforced security since 2022
The management explained that “this attack occurred in a context where the establishment’s security measures were reviewed and reinforced following the events of 2022, in particular with the creation of a security team”. Internally, doctors confirmed the assault. One of them told The Dispatchto “have enough of things being silenced”.
“Of course, we do not want to create stigma towards psychiatric patients, of course the acts can be impulsive and unpredictable but I find that violence is more and more trivialized”, she underlined before to denounce the lack of “financial and human resources”.
