A serious physical altercation broke out near a playground in the city of Salzburg on Wednesday evening. According to the police, four people are said to have attacked a 36-year-old. An Iraqi is said to have tried to stab the victim in the neck with an object.

According to the police report, several witnesses to the incident stated that at least four people attacked the 36-year-old Austrian with batons, brass knuckles, pepper spray and a knife.
The passers-by alerted the emergency services, but the men were able to flee before the first police officers arrived. In an immediately initiated search, police officers were able to stop four alleged perpetrators – they were between the ages of 22 and 30 years. The victim was injured to an unspecified degree in the altercation.
Also threatened to kill
Among the suspects was a 30-year-old Iraqi who is said to have tried to stab the victim in the neck with an unknown object. He also sprayed it with pepper spray.
Two Russians between the ages of 22 and 24 are said to have injured the victim with several punches, according to the police. Another man from Austria repeatedly threatened to kill the 36-year-old. Prosecutors reported the men at large.
