A violent altercation took place late Wednesday morning at the McDonald’s restaurant in Chicoutimi-nord.
According to Saguenay Police Department (SPS) spokesperson Luc Tardif, the event occurred when a group of young people were near the restaurant’s drive-thru.
For reasons that remain to be clarified, a man in his thirties, waiting in the drive-thru line, then got out of his vehicle to go and attack one of the young people, aged 14. The man allegedly punched the youngster in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
The young man was seriously injured, while the 30-year-old fled. Police and paramedics were then called to the scene. While transporting the young man to the hospital, the police gathered information on the spot, information which allowed them to put their hands on the suspect’s collar a little later, in the downtown area of Chicoutimi. The man is a citizen of Lévis.
Luc Tardif mentions that an investigation is underway, while the severity of the youngster’s injuries remains unknown at the time of writing these lines on Wednesday evening.
As for the man, he will most likely be charged, but the nature of the charges remains to be determined, depending on the seriousness of the injuries and the condition of the young person.
More details will be available in the early hours of Thursday.
