Dozens of houses and vehicles were reported to have been burnt. As one of the poorest countries in the world, Haiti has descended into chaos, with gangs taking over the capital Port-au-Prince, and security and health systems collapsing.
“Members of the Gran Grif gang used automatic rifles to shoot residents, killing at least 70 people, including around 10 women and three babies,” he said.
“At least 16 people suffered serious injuries, including two members of the group who were hit by gunfire during a shootout with Haitian police,” he said.
“When the attack took place, gang members reportedly burnt at least 45 houses and 34 vehicles, forcing several residents to flee,” he said.
“It is imperative that authorities quickly and thoroughly investigate this attack, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure compensation for the victims and their families,” he said.
