Mexico City. Violence reappeared on Mexican fields. Fans wearing Inter Miami shirts hit Monterrey fans in the stands of the Rayados stadium after the Monterrey team’s victory in the Concachampions.
According to a video circulating on social networks, the incident began after an exchange of insults between fans of both teams on Wednesday night.
Until the closing of this edition, both the clubs and Concacaf, organizer of the tournament, had not issued a statement regarding the issue. However, a position is expected from this international organization, especially after having sanctioned the Miami team for an altercation between Lionel Messi and members of Monterrey.
The episode recorded in Rayados’ house was exactly the same day that Mikel Arriola, president of the Liga Mx, assured that they have an effective protocol to avoid acts of violence inside the stadiums after the brawl on March 5, 2022 between followers of Querétaro and Atlas.
Rayados followers have already been involved in cases of violence recently. Monterrey fans were involved in a confrontation with Atlético de San Luis fans after the duel on matchday three of the Clausura 2024 tournament.
