In the Lyon metropolis, Sunday March 7 was the first evening without a clash after three consecutive nights punctuated by urban violence.
Opposing the police to groups of young people, the events mobilized 200 more police and gendarmes since the day before to avoid any overflow. So far, 21 arrests have been made, the vast majority of which concern minors.
The Minister of the Interior was delighted with this first night of calm, thanking the police. “Thanks to the action of the security forces and the reinforcements deployed, no major incident was deplored last night in the metropolis of Lyon. Thank you to them for their mobilization to uphold the republican order, ”he wrote on Twitter.
