Violence in La Concordia, Chiapas leaves 10 dead and 13 detained

The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that during the violent events that occurred last Sunday in the municipality of La Concordia, in the state of Chiapas, five people were murdered in a home and subsequently members of the National Guard were attacked by a group of armed men, a confrontation that left five attackers dead and 13 arrested.

The institution directed by Rosa Icela Rodríguez, announced that the events occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 31, and that the authorities were aware of “a first confrontation between groups of armed civilians in the Nuevo Paraíso ejido of that municipality,” for which “elements of the state police, National Guard and Army attended.”

Reports from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of the government of Chiapas indicate, according to the federal authority, that “in a home in the area, five dead males were found, with gunshot wounds, as well as six motorcycles and 15 burned vehicles.”

Four vehicles were seized at the scene, one with artisanal armor, and the ministerial authorities carried out the collection of evidence that could serve the investigations.

Subsequently, a second shooting was recorded, this occurred in the area known as Chalán de Zaragoza, also in the municipality of La Concordia. There National Guard personnel were attacked by a group of armed civilians, which led to a confrontation in which “five men were found dead, with gunshot wounds” and 13 people were arrested, all of Guatemalan origin, the SSPC reported. federal.

After the clashes, the authorities seized 22 long weapons (21 AK-47 rifles and one HK G-3 rifle), 149 magazines, 13 tactical vests and two vehicles.

During the second shooting, an element of the National Guard was injured, whose health status is reported to be stable.
