Violence in Geoffroy-Guichard: three new complaints filed

Three new complaints have been filed by the city of Saint-Etienne and the commercial management of AS Saint-Étienne after the violence that occurred on Sunday evening at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium.

These 3 new complaints are in addition to that of the club, relegated to L2 after its defeat against Auxerre on Sunday evening May 29, for “aggravated violence, destruction and degradation”
The Sportfive management estimates the amount of damage at 500,000 euros. “These are the LED advertising panels around the lawn, which are very largely damaged, and the connections that make them work,” said one of its managers, Nicolas Jacq.

For its part, Saint-Étienne Métropole, owner of the stadium which hosts ASSE, assesses the damage in the sports arena at more than 80,000 euros. “They will be taken care of by the club and its insurance,” said the community, chaired by the mayor of Saint-Etienne LR Gaël Perdriau, in a press release.

The metropolis also filed a complaint for damage to street furniture and roads around the stadium.
Mr. Perdriau welcomed “the takeover by the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa Castéra, during her hearing on Wednesday in the Senate, of the proposal he had just sent to her”.
In this case, he recommended that “local elected officials be very involved” in the work against violence in the stadiums, “and together prepare a white paper”.

On June 23, the Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League must render its decision on the incidents of Sunday evening.

Disciplinary sanctions can go as far as a total or partial closed session, withdrawal
points or even a disqualification and even a demotion.
