Violence, Bergen | Defending Hamse Ali: – I really hope that people will come to their senses

Hamse Ali received a lot of attention and a lot of support after he said he was the victim of an attack on the night of September 22nd.

Ali said he was on his way home from a team party with Djerv when he was subjected to blind violence and racism.

Now the 25-year-old is charged with making a false statement.

– He has all the support

To Bergen Newspaper says Synnøve Fluge, one of the people who organized the torch train, that this will not change anything.

– We had a meeting with Hamse today, and we see no reason not to support him and what he says.

She then says that the new development has made several people doubt Hamse Ali’s explanation, to which she responds.

– I really hope people come to their senses in the comments section and in general. No arrests have been made by the police. Hamse has all the support, she says.

Thousands of Bergens gathered in Nygårdsparken in a torchlight procession to mark their support against racism.

– People say that it was a big mistake and that we have been deceived, said Fluge to BA on Saturday.

Nettavisen has been in contact with the manager of the football club Ali plays for, SK Djerv. They were also co-organizers of the torch train.

– We are aware that the police are working with two hypotheses, and we hope that they will come to a decision within a reasonable time, writes the manager Espen Edvartsen in an SMS.

He also says that SK Djerv does not want to comment further on the matter now.

– Nothing is decided

– It is important to make it clear that we have not reached a conclusion either in terms of serious bodily injury or in terms of a possible misinterpretation, said police lawyer Per Øyvind Valland in the police district of the West to Nettavisen on Saturday.

Both cases are still under investigation.

Fluge says the whole situation is difficult for Ali.

– This is a terrible burden to bear, and a heavy accusation to accept. It is certainly not a division in the city that we need.

Fluge emphasizes to Bergensavisen that they are still standing behind Hamse even though the police are investigating another way.

– Nothing has been decided, and until then it is important to call Hamse
