Violence and Tension Escalate in Lille After Teen’s Death

2 days after the death of Nahel, 17, killed by a policeman in Nanterre after refusing to comply and after 2 nights of scenes of violence in the metropolis of Lille and in Valenciennes, the evening of this Thursday June 29 began mainly in Lille.

The first signs of tension observed by our teams in the field appeared in the form of garbage fires around 9 p.m. in the Wazemmes district and on Boulevard Montebello in Lille, before the Match store was looted in the same artery. One individual was hit by an LBD shot.
