Third night of riots after the death of young Nahel, 17, in Nanterre earlier this week. In Reims, France Bleu Champagne Ardenne spent the night in the Red Cross district where much degradation has occurred.

Fires and looting in Reims
Around 2 a.m., the rioters attacked the police office in the Red Cross neighborhood part of which was burnt. “It was invaded and ransacked” confirms Christian Pous, representative of the SGP Police FO union in Marne. “In memory of Rémois, we have never seen anything like it”, he testifies. In total, 33 people were arrested last night in Reims. Among them, a 12-year-old minor.

The police academy located a few steps from the police station was also ransacked by mortar fire. The post office does not escape the thugs either, just like the totally destroyed ticket machine, noted the reporter from France Bleu Champagne Ardenne. Stores were also looted, such as the Spar on Avenue Bonaparte.
In the Red Cross district, the media library will remain closed until further notice.
According to Christian Pous, there have been morea dozen arrests, “mainly minors”, some very young. On the other hand, no injuries to deplore, he indicates.

The Mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet spent the night alongside the police. He reacted on Twitter with very harsh words: “The scum took the pretext of a death to sack Reims (…) simply for fun. I extend my full support to our law enforcement agencies who are confronted with these hordes of savages”. He’s calling a meeting for Friday morning.
No trams this morning in Reims
In the night, several trams were stoned, the windows shattered, some trams received jets of incendiary products. At least one tram stop was ransacked in the Croix Rouge district (Aragon).

Violence in Châlons and Charleville
A Chalons Champagne, in the Schmit district, which had already been targeted the previous night, garbage cans were set on fire. A bank and a tobacconist were also targeted.

The police officer, author of the shooting which killed the young Nahel, 17, Tuesday in Nanterre, was indicted this Thursday evening. This 38-year-old man was also remanded in custody. Emmanuel Macron will chair a new interministerial crisis cell on Friday in Paris, for the second time in two days.
