Violence against women, the eternal pandemic in Latin America | Society | America Edition

Sexist violence does not give truce in Latin America, a region where at least two pandemics are faced, that of covid-19 and another that has been more evident than ever as a result of the confinements that made it clear that women are not safe of aggressions or at home.

A “shadow pandemic” is the definition that UN Women has given to violence against women in the context of covid-19, with a current outlook “quite discouraging,” the regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean of that organization, María-Noel Vaeza.
