Violators' curfew will be detained until 6am

Sunday evening March 29 at 8 p.m. the so-called curfew, established for the first time as part of the announced partial lockdown in Suriname due to the corona virus. Citizens are not allowed to be on or along the public road between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. without necessity.

The Suriname Police Force, with the support of other security services, will monitor compliance with this measure and warn civilians that violators will be detained.

“Violators of the partial lockdown will be transferred to a police location, where they will be detained until six in the morning,” reports the Surinamese police.

These offenders will also be subjected to a security search before being taken to the police location. The leadership of the Suriname Police Force urges the bourgeoisie to stay at home during the lockdown.

This curfew is set from Sunday March 29 for the next 14 days.
