British Minister of Health Matt Hancock officially resigned. The resignation is related to the violation of the COVID-19 health protocol after Hancock caught kissing his own aide, Gina Coladangelo.
Reported AFP, Hancock’s letter of resignation was handed over to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
“We owe it to the people who have sacrificed so much in this pandemic to be honest. When we let them down like I have done by breaking the guidelines,” Hancock wrote as reported by Reuters. AFP, Sunday (27/6/2021).
Johnson says he deeply regrets accepting the decision to resign Hancock. Johnson said he was proud of Hancock’s performance while serving as the UK’s Minister of Health.

It is known that newspapers The Sun published a photo of Matt Hancock kissing his personal aide. The incident was caught on CCTV camera at Hancock’s office on May 6.
As soon as the photo of Hancock’s kiss with his aide went viral, the British public was furious. Hancock was considered to have violated the health protocol, namely the social distancing rules, which ironically, he disseminated to the British public during the Corona pandemic.
The spotlight is also on his aide, Gina Coladangelo. The opposition, the Labor Party, asked the Ministry of Health to explain to the public about the appointment of Gina as Hancock’s aide. It is known, Hancock and Gina are both married.
