Old Apple releases are an important target for collectors
Early iPhone models are a popular target for collectors around the world.
Last week, the 4GB iPhone 1st Edition model, described as “extremely rare,” sold for $190,000.
And the screen of the device was 3.5 inches, compared to 6.1 inches for the latest model, which is the iPhone 14 Pro.
The device was released for the first time in 16 years, and was discontinued after only two months due to poor sales.
Products for “Apple” have been sold for large sums
Apple Computer A
The device, designed in 1976, was sold at auction for $700,000. It has been described as “rare” and “historic”.
Apple One computer
A number of these devices have been sold at auction, including a rare fully functional model that sold for about $460,000.
Mac OS Prototype
One of the two surviving prototypes of the original Apple Macintosh computer sold for $150,000 in 2019. The prototype sold, made in 1983, featured a 5.25-inch “Twiggy” drive.
WristMac
The WristMac wasn’t technically an Apple product, but it did communicate with a Macintosh computer over the now-defunct AppleTalk protocol. The device can also set alarms, store phone numbers and take notes. It was released in 1988, decades before the tech giant unveiled its first Apple Watch in 2015. A rare, yet-to-be-worn device is up for auction in 2021 for $7,500.
Model “VideoPad 2”
It has a foldable screen and a camera for video conferencing. It sold for $14,000 at a Los Angeles auction in 2021.
QuickTake Hundred Camera
It has been described as one of the first commercially successful lines of digital cameras. It still sells for $260. Its maximum resolution was 640 x 480 pixels, which is much lower than the resolution available on the recent iPhone 14 Pro.
